wildhorse residence
This 6000 square foot residence is iproposed for a hillside location 4 miles outside of Boise, Idaho. The two primary rectangular forms, in a cross-axial relationship, form a forecourt with a porte-cochere at the top of the site. The primary living wing runs perpendicular to the slope. A local stone base provides a mesa-like plinth for the low, glass forms of the main living areas and echoes the rock outcroppings characteristic of this topography. Terraces atop the stone base are sheltered from the harsh, high-desert sun by deep overhangs providing shade for protected, spectacular views of the city and valley below.
