Veltex Condominium

This rooftop residence is located in downtown Boise. A mezzanine space of bedroom, study and bath overlooks the living and dining all with views of the city outside. Here, surface and space are defined by their continuity. Spaces are connected, continuous, and defined by simple elements: column, cabinet, rail and screen. Walls are rare. Materials are mahogany, stone, steel and textiles; all flow from one space into another, horizontally, vertically. Continuity of surfaces is exemplified in the design of the stair. Continuous, helical ribbons of steel, invisibly supported, touch only the floors above and below at their ends. Black stone treads rise from the floor, merge with the stair, and then, reemerge with the floor above.
