Built in the 1941, this prime example of Art Modern architecture is being updated. The historic two-story building with a basement has six apartments that are in nearly identical condition as they were in 1941. The project is on track to receive Federal Historic Tax Credits which requires the renovations to meet the exacting restoration standards of The Secretary of Interior Standards and the National Park Service.
The iconic steel windows which are a major component of this period of architecture and of the Art Modern movement will be meticulously restored and improved for energy efficiency. When completed the renovated Baxter Apartments will have all new electrical system, new HVAC system, new kitchens, and bathrooms.
